WAA Team Selection Criteria

 Criteria for the application and the selection of teams for 2014  

 

 

General criteria

 

  1. Only archers who are members of WAA are eligible.
  2. Only archers who complete and submit an application form for a team will be considered. WAA has adopted the policy that it will not seek to fill any vacant places in a team other than by archers covered under (5) below..
  3. All submitted scores must be from tournaments at which a qualified Judge was officiating. Minimum qualifying score requirements are given in the more detailed information below.
  4. Applications may be by post or by e-mail but in all cases must be accompanied by the supporting tournament result sheets. Applicants are advised to seek confirmation of receipt of their applications.
  5. Archers who do not fully meet the minimum criteria but who have at least one score of the required standard are also invited to apply and may be selected if there would otherwise be a vacancy.
  6. Juniors are eligible for senior teams but must be chaperoned by a parent/guardian who will be responsible for their own expenses if not a member of the team in their own right.

 

Senior Target Teams

 

  1. The senior Home Nations Outdoor and Indoor teams will each consist of two ladies and two gentlemen recurve plus two ladies and two gentlemen compound.
  2. The composition and number of archers in the senior Euronations team will be determined by the WAA Council on the basis of the funding available.
  3. Applicants for either of the outdoor teams should submit a minimum of three tournament scores from the current outdoor season. Scores must be of Master Bowman standard and above.
  4. The eligible rounds for outdoor applications are:
    Gents: Any number and combination of York or Gents Fita (Fita 1440)
    Ladies: Any number and combination of Hereford or Ladies Fita (Fita 1440)
    Both: No more than one Fita 70 (recurve) or Fita 50 (compound)
  5. Applicants for the indoor team should submit a minimum of three tournament scores from the current calendar year. The only eligible rounds are Fita 18 and Portsmouth.

  1. For all teams, selection will be based on the average of the applicant’s three best scores on a handicap basis. In the event of a tie, any other scores submitted will be taken into consideration.

Junior Target Teams

 

  1. The junior Home Nations Outdoor team will consist of six recurve archers (the best junior lady, the best junior gentleman and the four next best archers irrespective gender), plus the best two compound archers irrespective of gender. The age limit for this team is 17 on the day of shooting.
  2. Applicants for the Home Nations Outdoor team should submit tournament scoresfrom a minimum of three age-appropriate rounds, of which no more than one may be from the previous season. Scores must be of age-appropriate Bowman standard and above.
  3. The junior Euronations team will consist of three junior ladies and three junior gentlemen recurve, plus one junior lady and one junior gentleman compound. The age limit for archers eligible for this team is 20 on the day of shooting.
  4. The eligible rounds for Euronations applications are Metric 1 & 2, Bristol 1 & 2, York, Hereford, Gents FITA and Ladies FITA. Applicants for the Euronations team should submit a minimum of three tournament scores, all of which must be from the current season. Scores must be of age-appropriate Bowman standard and above.
  5. The junior indoor team will consist of two junior ladies and two junior gentlemen recurve, plus the best two compound archers irrespective of gender. The age limit for this team is 17 on the day of shooting.
  6. Applicants for the junior indoor team should submit a minimum of three tournament scores from the current calendar year. The only eligible rounds are Fita 18 and Portsmouth. At least two scores must be from Portsmouth rounds.

  1. For all teams, selection will be based on the average of the applicant’s three best absolute scores, except that scores from rounds above the archer’s actual age group will be adjusted upwards via the use of handicap tables. In the event of a tie, any other scores submitted will be taken into consideration.

Field Team

.

  1. The Field Team will consist of one archer in each of the following disciplines: Compound Unlimited, Compound Limited, Freestyle, Compound Barebow, Barebow, Traditional, Longbow. (ranked in order of priority)
  2. The team will include at least two ladies and two gentlemen. For this event, there are no fixed gender requirements other than these.
  3. If there is a vacancy in a particular discipline then WAA may fill this by fielding an additional archer from one of the lower-ranked disciplines.
  4. Applicants should submit three single round scores from Record Status shoots. Scores must be from the current season, may include only one unmarked score and may not all be from the same venue.
